Arriving in a new country often means arriving alone. Many asylum seekers spend their first months without family nearby, without a network and without anyone to ask the simple questions that make daily life work.
Our social activities bring people together in a relaxed, welcoming setting: shared meals, walks, cultural celebrations and conversation circles. Newcomers meet people who have walked the same road, exchange tips about housing, schools and paperwork, and leave with phone numbers instead of questions.
Why it matters
Isolation and depression are among the hardest parts of settlement. Feeling part of a community is often the first step towards finding work, learning the language and building a new life.
